Who are you?

Stefaan Vandelacluze, project assistant at BAMM. Glacier builder, cultural entrepreneur, part-time artist with a mountain hut and a head full of ideas.

I try to restore the world step by step — with a great deal of seriousness and at least as much fun. My motivation: a belief in the power of artistic thinking, observation and encounters.

Why did you become a LOVer?

Because LOV2030 demonstrates ample ambition to truly set things in motion.

What does LOV mean to you?

A Limits-Exploring Story – and hopefully also a Loving Disruption of Entrenched Ideas.

LOV is all about new encouters. Who did you meet during your stay in Leuven who gave you a LOVely feeling?

I encountered many stories, a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of fun. LOV is about doing things together. Names are secondary. Don't think about names.

When was the last time you were astonished by nature?

Every day in the mountains.

But also in a flower that finds its way between the cobblestones in Leuven. Wonder can be found in the smallest crack.

Do you think art and culture can contribute to more connection?

Certainly. Art only comes into being through dialogue. Without an audience, there is no art, only production. The viewer is just as essential as the actor, the paint or the block of marble.

What is your favorite LOVely place in Leuven & beyond?

It's all in the mind! Or on an imaginary glacier on the Keizersberg.

What do you hope for 2030?

A better status for nature, artists and ordinary citizens.

Any final LOVely thoughts you'd like to leave us with?

Don't let the other person's idealism burn out. Protect it together, before it freezes or evaporates.
