Expo Point of View
From 13 to 25 March 2025, the SLAC Academy will present ‘POV’ (Point of View) in the Romaanse Poort. In this exhibition, the SLAC teachers do not act as supervisors in the foreground, but as artists. They explore the theme of perspective using various media and techniques.
‘This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to discover the diverse perspectives and artistic visions of our academy,’ says Bert Cornillie, alderman for part-time art education. ’In this exhibition, the teachers reflect on the concept of perspective in contemporary art. ‘POV‘ invites visitors to reflect on how perspectives are formed and how they influence our perception. In a world in which visions and interpretations are constantly evolving, this exhibition offers a fascinating platform for dialogue and reflection.’
The works range from paintings and sculptures to multimedia installations, each with a unique approach to the central theme. By combining different artistic media and techniques, the artists create a rich and multifaceted experience that is both visually and intellectually stimulating.
‘Academie SLAC wants to play a crucial role in promoting artistic innovation and education. Our teachers are not only passionate artists, but also mentors who inspire the next generation of creative people. ‘POV‘ reflects these dynamics and shows the versatility and depth of contemporary art practices within our academy. This search for different and new perspectives also fits in perfectly with the narrative around LOV2030, Leuven & Beyond's ambition to become European Capital of Culture in 2030,’ Cornillie concludes.
