Summer Films - UFO's boven België

The programme for Summer Films 2025 has plenty in store again this year: atmospheric short films, a live film concert, hidden gems and the grand comeback of cliché bingo. Films that missed the cinemas this year will be screened under the stars by Summer Films.

THURSDAY 7 AUGUST: UFOs BOVEN BELGIË

Documentary | Director: Bram Conjaerts, Maarten Bernaerts, Belgium, 2025, duration: 1:30, Dialogues: Dutch, French Subtitles: Dutch

At the end of the 1980s, Belgium is shaken by a series of mysterious apparitions in the sky. Thousands of people claim to have seen a luminous, triangular object at night, and belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life quickly grows. The reports are investigated by the government in collaboration with a group of researchers called SOBEPS, but the lack of tangible evidence only deepens the mystery. Using archive footage and interviews, this documentary paints a nuanced picture of this mysterious phenomenon.

This screening will be preceded by the quiz “Recognise the UFO”.
