Summer Films - Choosing my Religion

The programme for Summer Films 2025 has plenty in store again this year: atmospheric short films, a live film concert, hidden gems and the grand return of cliché bingo. Films that missed the cinemas this year will be screened under the stars by Summer Films.

THURSDAY 31 JULY: CHOOSING MY RELIGION

Short film compilation: various directors, Belgium, Netherlands, Finland, 2019, 2023 and 2024, duration: 1:30, dialogue: Dutch, Arabic, Middle Dutch, English, Finnish, Yiddish, subtitles: English/Dutch

An unexpected encounter between two neighbours, a light-hearted reflection on prejudice and testimonies from people who saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Don't expect Conclave stories, but rather ordinary people who come into contact with spirituality in comical, gruesome or everyday ways. Leuven Short Film Festival and Dalton Distribution take you to higher spheres with a diverse mix of humour, witch burning and a moving conversation between a few six-year-olds about the Big Questions in Life.

The compilation consists of the films Friday, 1st of July (Sarah Lederman), Rachid (Rachida El Garani), Bright White Light (Henna Välkky, Eesu Lehtola), Barlebas (Malu Janssen) and Aatos en de wereld (Nicole Van Kilsdonk).
