Run through Leuven to the music of Jimmy Dewit

On Saturday April 12 and Sunday April 13, 2025, Leuven will be the setting for the very first European Running Championships. For this brand-new event, Jimmy Dewit, also known as former city DJ Bobby Ewing, has composed a unique music track that runners can listen to during their training.

To promote running in Leuven, the city of Leuven, LOV2030 and Jimmy Dewit joined forces to compose a unique music track. The result is a long 60-minute electronic trip, perfectly timed for those who want to run 10 kilometers. Hence the name: 10K60.

“I composed a large part of this music in my running outfit,” Jimmy Dewit explains. ”Not to get in the right mood, but because I am training hard for this marathon. My very first one. And yet the 10K remains my favorite distance – an hour's run and then cheerfully on with the day.”

“We have many athletic residents in Leuven. We can see that again now in the number of Leuven residents participating in the European Running Championships. There are already more than 3,000 at the moment,” says alderman for sports Christophe Stockman. ”Jimmy Dewit's soundtrack could give them an extra push to finish the final weeks of preparation. And maybe the track will encourage those who are still on the fence to sign up. But of course, everyone can enjoy the soundtrack, runner or not.”

In addition to an instrumental version, a special edition with spoken texts will be available soon. Well-known Leuven voices will read short, fascinating stories written by Jan Delvaux. These texts reveal fun facts about Leuven and its residents. Don't expect a guided tour or a mapped-out route, but rather a fascinating auditory introduction to the city.

“Jimmy Dewit's clever soundtrack is not only musical motivation for sports enthusiasts, but also a nice introduction to Leuven, thanks to the many facts and stories. It's ideal for listening to during a visit to the city,” says alderwoman of tourism Karin Brouwers. ”Since the track is available in Dutch, English and Leuven dialect, it allows both domestic and foreign visitors and tourists to get to know Leuven better.”

10K60 is available on most music streaming services, such as Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music and YouTube Music.
