European Capital of Culture 2030 is an opportunity to tackle challenges together, such as the climate, growing inequality, poverty or polarisation, where people do not agree with each other. Culture is our secret weapon. It brings citizens, regional municipalities, organisations, knowledge institutes, associations, entrepreneurs and companies together. This way, Leuven and the region can grow into an exemplary region for all of Europe.
The entire process will also have a positive impact on culture, welfare, the economy, tourism, the hospitality industry and more, both during the preparations and after the festive year itself. If we win, 2030 will be a top year for culture for all residents of the region and visitors from far and near. We are aiming for 3 million national and international visitors.
