Summer Films - I saw the tv glow

The programme for Summer Films 2025 has plenty in store again this year: atmospheric short films, a live film concert, hidden gems and the grand comeback of cliché bingo. Films that missed the cinemas this year will be screened under the stars by Summer Films.

SATURDAY 12 JULY: I SAW THE TV GLOW

Thriller | Director: Jane Schoenbrun, Cast: Justice Smith, Jack Haven, Ian Foreman, and others. United States, 2024, duration: 1:40, Dialogues: English, Subtitles: Dutch

Owen and Maddy, two introverted teenagers growing up in the 1990s, have little in common except their passion for a mysterious television series about supernatural powers and monsters. The series becomes a true obsession for them, but when it abruptly ends after five seasons, reality and fantasy begin to blur. A totally non-conformist film with Lynchian nods to the alienating surrealism of growing up, discovering yourself and accepting who you are.
