LOV Circus on Kweikersdag
On Saturday 10 October, Tienen will once again be transformed into one big festival setting. From a bustling fair and local produce market to children’s entertainment, heritage activities, street theatre, the Lazuur, the impressive Kweikers Parade and a spectacular closing show: the entire city centre will be dedicated to Tienen’s festival day for a whole day.
LOV2030 is bringing the circus to Tienen’s Grote Markt. Be amazed by a mix of acrobatics, humour and unexpected encounters, including ‘Kiss & Fly’ by Cie Tripote. A moment of wonder in the run-up to the Kweikersparade.

De Lazuur
4.00 pm – 5.00 pm – Grote Markt
Event kicks off at 4.30 pm
The neighbourhoods of Tienen will be competing against each other at De Lazuur, one of the most beloved traditions of Kweikersdag. With homemade sheep, the neighbourhoods and villages will battle it out in this special relay race for the coveted victory and the golden banner. Come along to cheer on your favourite neighbourhood and enjoy the unique atmosphere that brings young and old together.
The main evening programme
Kweikers Parade
Starts at 7.00 pm
The absolute highlight of Kweikersdag. Hundreds of participants, giants, draught horses, brass bands and a mobile carillon bring Tienen to life during a unique parade that winds its way through the city just once every five years. A low-stimulus viewing area is provided in Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Broedersstraat.
Grand Finale
8.30 pm – Grote Markt
The Kweikersparade concludes with a spectacular closing show on the Grote Markt. A magical finale full of music, light and hundreds of participants brings Kweikersdag to a stylish close. A raised viewing area is provided for wheelchair users.
The party continues into the night
Even after the finale, the festive atmosphere lingers in Tien’s town centre. From 9.30 pm, various cafés and bars will be organising after-parties and evening celebrations where visitors, participants and volunteers can come together to reminisce about an unforgettable Kweikersdag. One of the highlights is Wilma’s traditional closing party on the Schapenmarkt, where the day’s festivities in Tienen come to a close in a cosy and festive atmosphere.
