Bike routes past four places of hope
At Easter 2025, the Vicariate of Flemish Brabant & Mechelen is launching five carefully designed pilgrim cycling routes. Each route forms a loop and passes by one of four special places of hope:
- the Basilica of Saint Martin in Halle
- Saint Rumbold’s Cathedral in Mechelen
- Saint Peter’s Church in Leuven
- the Basilica of Our Lady in Scherpenheuvel
When can you ride the routes?
Whenever you like! Opening hours of the churches are listed in the guidebooks.
But we highly recommend taking your trip on a Sunday afternoon between Easter (April 20, 2025) and Pentecost (June 8, 2025). During this period, the churches on the routes will be open, offering inspiring signs of hope through art, film, and poetry. The heritage of these often centuries-old places comes to life in a whole new way. Each route is easily accessible from your own neighborhood. Friendly volunteers will be there to welcome you at each stop.
Pilgrim walks
In Scherpenheuvel and Halle, the VIcariate is also offering two pilgrim walks of around 10 km each.
